Scrappage: The Most Talked about Scheme of the Recent UK Budget

30 Apr

fordScrappage is undoubtedly the most talked about scheme announced by Chancellor Alistair Darlings in his latest budget speech. This new scheme will boost the sales of new vans and cars. This scheme ensures that owners can now sale their old vehicles at a much higher price than they used to get at the secondhand market. The minimum price of an old vehicle has been set at £2000.

But in order to take advantage of this scheme you need to have a vehicle registered on or before 31st July 1999, in the UK. Besides it need to be registered under a Statutory Off Road Notification and the address should be of any UK resident. It should also have a MOT certificate. The new car also needs to be registered in the name of the person who owns the old car. It means you can buy a Ford at much less.

The scheme will start in mid-May of 2009 and will run till early March 2010.
